Anabela Rodrigues, MD, PhD, is Nephrology Consultant and Associate Professor of Nephrology in the University of Porto, Instituto Ciencias Biomédicas Abel Salazar.
Study of Medicine at the University of Porto 1983-1989; Graduated in Medicine in October 1989; Specialization in Nephrology 1992- 1997, Nephrology Assistant since July 1997; Nephrology Consultant since August 2005.
Active in a University centre CAPD program, since more than 12 years; Physician-in-Charge of the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, in the Department of Nephrology at Hospital Geral Santo António in Porto, since 1998. Maintains assistance work also in the fields of clinical nephrology, hemodialysis and renal transplantation
Organized the I Course of Peritoneal Dialysis in Porto, 1998, and since then maintains responsibility as coordinator and lecturer in PD Symposiums and Courses.
Is member of the Portuguese Nephrology Society Scientific Committee
Was member of the Committee for Peritoneal Dialysis European Best Practice Guidelines.
Developed investigational activity in the international multicentre EAPOS Study
In the field of her clinical and investigational work has been awarded from Portuguese Nephrology Society: Novartis 1999, Roche 2003, Roche 2005, Raul Martins-Baxter 2007, Raul Martins-Baxter 2008, among other Congress awards for best original presentations in the field of Peritoneal Dialysis.
She sits in the Editorial Board of the Portuguese Journal of Nephrology and Hypertension. Has been invited reviewer for the International Journal Artificial Organs, Nephrology Dialysis and Transplantation Journal, Blood Purification and Peritoneal Dialysis International.
Since 2005, she serves the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis as member of the Membership Committee and is ISPD Council member since August 2006.
In October 2007 she completed her PhD thesis on peritoneal fast transport status, promoted by Dr Raymond Krediet (University of Amsterdam, AMC).
