Olivier Devuyst, M.D., Ph.D., is Ordinarius Professor of Physiology and Medicine at the University of Zurich (UZH), Zurich, Switzerland and at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) Medical School in Brussels, Belgium. He holds joint appointments in the Division of Nephrology, UniversitätSpital Zurich (USZ) and St.-Luc Academic Hospital (UCL).
Olivier Devuyst heads research groups investigating the pathophysiology of inherited kidney diseases and the molecular mechanisms of water and solute transport across the peritoneal membrane. He has been the laureate of several international prizes and has been elected at the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium in 2005. Since 2008, O. Devuyst coordinates EUNEFRON the European Network for the Study of Orphan Nephropathies. He serves in various Steering Committees and Advisory Boards, and is Associate Editor of Peritoneal Dialysis International and Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation and member of the Editorial Board of Kidney International.
